The design draws inspiration from the magnificent architecture of Stanley Field Hall, the grand entrance hall of Chicago’s Field Museum. Alesia was particularly captivated by looking upward at the soaring neoclassical ceiling, where monumental scale, repeating square architectural forms, and intricate skylight geometry create an extraordinary interplay of symmetry, structure, space, and natural light.
The expansive skylights illuminate the grand hall below, emphasizing the beauty of its white marble and classical architecture. Inspired by this view from beneath, Alesia reimagined the ceiling’s geometric structure as a contemporary textile composition.
Rendered in deep navy blue and crisp white, the design emphasizes the architectural rhythm and striking symmetry of the original inspiration.
