Santa Costume by Chicago Fashion Designer Alesia C. Inspired by "Christmas Chronicles" Movie
With a passion for custom film and theater costume design, love for the magical spirit of Christmas, and believing in Santa, two gorgeous Santa Claus costumes were crafted by Chicago's artist and fashion designer Alesia Chaika and her team of master tailors at flagship Alesia C. Studio Boutique-Atelier for our sweetest client in 2020!
Our inspiration. Kurt Russel in role of Santa Claus in "Christmas Chronicles" movie
One of Santa's costumes was inspired by the designer's favorite "The Christmas Chronicles" movie. The coat was crafted of red softest leather, fox fur, cotton poplin dress shirt with puffy sleeves, gorgeous red wool vest with gold plated buttons and embroidery, red royal velvet hat, red wool pants, and belt with Santa Claus buckle. Right like from the movie!

From the first days, our team was so excited to work on this magical project. Of cause, making the coat from real leather was not an easy project. It requires skills and experience of crafting from leather and working with fox fur. It took over 1 month to search and request samples of quality leather and fabrics from the manufacturer, to find the beige fox fur and confirm it with our Santa.

This project continued with costume drawings, fashion sketches, and detailed measurements of our Santa client. After all, sketches were confirmed, we created mock-ups and patterns from cotton fabric first.

At the next step, we had few mock-up fittings with a client to make sure it fits properly before we cut the actual coat and costume pieces from actual leather and fabrics.

Having fittings with our Santa client was very big fun for all of us every time! Trying on, adjusting the patterns, adding details and trims!

Another costume was created as a traditional Santa costume. The coat was crafted of red royal velvet in an A-line silhouette, trimmed with snow-white fox fur, gold metallic embroidery, and snowflake jingle bells over sleeves and Santa belt! To match the traditional Santa coat we created a matching red velvet hat trimmed with a white fur pom pom! The snow-white fox fur was purchased in Greece and royal velvet, wool, and trims were purchased in the USA.

During these 4 months of hard work, pattern making, sewing, crafting, and tailoring, everyone in our team had the magical experience of making Santa's costumes, feeling and believing that we creating awesome outfits for real Santa! Yes, we all believe in Santa! Every single piece was crafted by hands with love and passion for what we do! Besides everything, we so enjoyed the process, because our Santa is the sweetest Santa on the planet!
